Small Business Information Expo was a Success
The
first ever Small Business Expo debuted Thursday May 10th at the Saratoga
Springs City Center. Organized by the Small Business Strategic Alliance, an
association of local professionals, business persons and entrepreneurs; this
Expo targeted small and mid-sized area businesses. The purpose of the Expo was to
provide local businesses with vital information on State and Federal incentives
and regulatory guidelines. The Expo assisted business professionals navigate the
murky bureaucracy of public and private Economic Development programs. The
Internal Revenue Service Small Business/ Self Employed Division partnered with
the Small Business Strategic Alliance in this event. Admission was free.
In support of Saratoga County business; Saratoga County Chairman of the Board of
Supervisors, Phil Barrett, City of Saratoga Springs Supervisor, Joanne Yepsen,
and Jon Scarchilli, President and CEO of Pioneer Savings Bank, the Expo’s
leading sponsor, opened the Expo at the “official”
Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at Noon. Also on hand for
the ribbon cutting were Susan Marks , Stakeholder
Liaison, IRS, SBSA Advisory Board Member Ray Patterson,, President
of Capital Consulting Group LLC, SBSA Co-Founder Rosanne
Greenwood, President of RJG Consulting LLC, SBSA
Co-Founder James Pfeiffer, President of Pfeiffer &
Associates, LLC TimePlus Payroll, and SBSA Co-Founder
Karen LaVine, Co-Owner of ICOM Tech Services.
Ninety, (90) plus booths were available to assist business owners, managers
and operators facilitate contacts and relationships with State, Federal, and
recognized business leaders, to share tools that impact, influence or support a
company’s successful operation. The Expo provided an opportunity for face to
face conversation with experienced resources able to provide answers and
solutions to your every day business challenges.
Informational Seminars were offered throughout the day on such relevant topics
as: Health Insurance Options and Planning, Business Compliance, Financing,
Taxation, Business Insurance and Doing Business with the State/Federal
Government. To wrap up the event and bring multiple resources together at one
place and time, there was a round table discussion by top agency officials.
