HITman Services Explains Bluetooth Technology
Submitted By:

Another type of wireless is Bluetooth. Bluetooth provides wireless connectivity between Bluetooth enabled devices in a range of about 33 feet for most devices. There are exceptions depending on power output of the device.

Many cell phones are Bluetooth enabled. Some notebook computers have Bluetooth built-in and is an option in others.

Some people refer to the little headsets as Bluetooth, but Bluetooth is a wireless technology, not a specific device. Besides headsets, speakerphones and printers are also available with Bluetooth. Game consoles such as Sony's Playstation 3 also use Bluetooth for communication between the console and game controllers. Some digital cameras are also equipped with Bluetooth technology.

While the industry and manufacturers are constantly looking for ways to improve security, there is no technology which is impervious to security breaches. If you get a message requesting you pair your device, do not accept it. This could be the beginning of a security hack. An important consideration is to make sure you pair your Bluetooth devices in private and set them to non-discoverable mode.

Overall, Bluetooth is a very good technology which more and more devices will take advantage of in the future.
